Ann Curry

Ann Curry, an American photojournalist and journalist who has covered the natural and military disasters of nearly 45 years. Her focus is on the human suffering suffered by people who live in these places. Curry has written about the conflict zones of Kosovo Iraq Syria Lebanon Palestine Afghanistan Darfur Congo and the Central African Republic. Ann Curry, born November 19th 1956 (Agana), is an American journalist who worked as an anchor on television. Curry is well-known for her reporting of humanitarian crises and natural disasters particularly in nations that have been devastated by war. Curry is the daughter of a U.S. Navy sailor and an Japanese woman. Curry met her mother when she was stationed with their father during Japan after World War II. Because of her father's military service, the family relocated often. Curry graduated from high school within Ashland Oregon. After graduating from University of Oregon, Curry received a bachelor degree in journalism degree in 1978. Her exposure to different cultures and experiences during her upbringing likely influenced her empathetic approach to communicating about global issues. When she was 22, she became the first reporter to be female at KTVL. Then she was promoted to anchoring and reporting for KGW the NBC affiliate station in Portland. She moved back into Los Angeles four years later working as a journalist at KCBS TV. During her KCBS-TV relationship of six years the station, she won two Emmy Awards.
